Father's Day treat

Well, we have a simple desert we like to throw together when it's hot, because it's nice and cold.  It's some version of a trifle.  We don't soak the angelfood cake, and we don't use lady fingers, lol.  And for Father's Day this year, I made it a key lime version.

Thought I'd share it with you, since it's bound to be yummy...and it gives you the basis for all sorts of other yummy combinations.

1 angel food cake cubed (I usually buy it, don't have time to bake it and usually the main reason we make this desert is not to bake anyway!!)
(1 pkg pudding mix if you are doing chocolate, lemon or other flavor)
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1/2 lime juice (doesn't have to be key limes, since most of us don't have them when we want them.  I guess you can buy the jar of specific key lime juice at the store, but regular limes work too)
1 TB lime zest
whipped topping (large tub if using store bought stuff, 4 cups if making homemade)
1 full square graham crackers  or 1 small squares, crushed.

In a 4 cup mixing cup, combine sweetened condensed milk and juice and mix with hand mixer till well blended and thick.  Add zest and mix another minute.

In a large glass bowl or medium other type bowl  (about 8 cups?) layer 1/3 of the angel food cake, 1/3 of key lime mixture and a layer of whipped topping.  Try not to mix the layers.  Sprinkle a layer of graham cracker on top of this, then do another layer, ending with graham crackers on the very top as in the photo.
Place in the fridge and let chill for an hour or so, till you're ready to eat.

This is great with chocolate pudding and bananas, or lemon pudding and blueberries...or vanilla pudding and strawberries...any combination you feel like!!
